This short article offers busy parents three important questions to ask their child about the school day.
Are you a working parent? It is easy to get caught up in the stress of working and parenting. Sometimes you miss opportunities to engage in valuable conversation with your child. The car ride is an important time to find out how your son or daughter is doing while away from home.
Here are three questions to ask your school-aged child about the school day:
- What new things did you learn today? This is a great question to give your child an opening to talk about the exciting information she acquired today. Let her talk while you listen. She should be free to articulate what is foremost and exciting in her world.
- Did you have any problems that you want to talk about? Now, this question is a little trickier. You don’t want to fish for problems that don’t exist, but this is a chance for your child to respond about worries that he has. The problem may be at home or at school, but at least you are opening up the discussion…
